Top 10 Reasons Why Regional Providers Ranked Better
There are some big names out there in warehousing solutions, but bigger isn’t necessarily better.
Even a large business with more demanding warehousing logistics can benefit from using a regional provider for their warehousing solutions . Studies that compare the warehousing solutions provided by national and regional warehouse services turned up ten different reasons why it’s better to use a regional provider.
1. Regional Providers are More Responsive to Customer Requirements
One of the greatest benefits when going with a regional provider for company warehousing solutions is flexibility and responsiveness. This allows the company to quickly serve the client’s needs depending on requirements. A regional provider is better able to focus on what the customer needs.
2. Better Quality Warehouse Distribution Management
With fewer trucks going to more localized destinations, a regional provider has more control over its operations and seasonal business swings. Each facility manager is empowered with “Customer is King” attitude, allowing them to keep services running at peak efficiency, and making sure there are no hiccups in a client’s distribution fulfillment services.
3. Noticeable Difference in Ethical Track Record
Ethical relationships are the pillars of our business foundation and nurturing long term relationships. Regional providers are extremely sensitive to client needs and providing top notch service, oft times providing a better ethical track record since it is more able to keep close watch on cost and service.
4. More Value Added Services
With shorter distances to travel and more attention to customer requirements, a regional provider is more apt to provide a wider range of value added services that can help the customer stand out as a business. For example many national providers do not provide in house trucking services where as this is a standard service provided by regional warehouse operators. National providers tend to broker out these services which lessens control and adding cost to the bottom line.
5. Lower Costs
When using a regional provider for warehousing logistics, it’s almost a given that a customer’s bottom line will get a boost. A regional provider generally operates with less overhead. Regional warehousing solutions lend themselves to these lower costs because of cost control by demanding higher productivity, better oversight, and less waste.
6. Higher Degree of Order Accuracy
Since regional providers tend to be more accurate in the order and deliver process. Accuracy results are measure and discussed timely and directly with warehouse crews
7. More In-depth Knowledge of the Market
One major advantage of regional warehouse provides is how well they know their region. Regional experience is a key component to a successful operation. Management turnover is generally very low and tribal knowledge is inherent. Knowledge of specialized carriers and consignee delivery requirements are key factors to providing timely regional service.
8. Better Personal Relationships with Key Contacts
Maintaining better relationships with customers and key contacts is of paramount importance for resolving problems and providing solutions. Successful regional providers understand very well that this is a key factor for growth. Beyond the business relationship “Friends help friends” and having a truly open relationship is beneficial everyone.
9. Willingness to Assume Risk
Regional providers tend to be more competitive in their given market, meaning they are more willing to assume moderate risks to meet the customer’s needs. While this doesn’t mean that a regional will be more reckless, it does mean that a regional is more willing to provide the services that a national may not be.
10. More Investment in State-of-the-Art Technology
Regional providers as a whole tend to reinvest in their business more often and offer customized solutions to keep up with the rapidly evolving logistics and warehousing scene. This allows regional providers to have a general edge over their national competitors.
