Warehouse Logistics - Top 10 Drivers of World Class Consumer Goods Supply Chains
In the current world market for consumable goods, many manufacturers are beginning to look to warehouse logistics professionals to insure the integrity of their products in the supply-chain process. The market is very fluid and changes need to be implemented seamlessly in real time with adjustments being actuated on a daily basis. The need for a quality team of warehouse distribution management to handle the critical logistics and warehousing is paramount to the customer.
The top ten drivers of world class consumer goods supply chains are:
1. The ability to respond and react immediately to the changing needs and requirements of the customer in delivering warehousing services. Being able to make adjustments "on the fly" is a skill that public warehouses bring to the arena of warehousing logistics.
2. Quality of management in distribution fulfillment services. In the current market it is important to develop a highly qualified team of experts in warehousing solutions while maintaining a high standard of ethics and integrity.
3. A warehousing company is motivated to maintain a strong, ethical management team to insure its own continued success and to provide the customer with unmatched, competitive services.
4. The warehousing and logistics provider is able and adept at performing value-added services like kitting of products before shipment to the end user and may also be able to provide some assembly services to prepare the product for the final stage for delivery.
5. Warehouse logistics providers are able to deliver warehousing services at a much lower cost to the manufacturer by way of providing usable and expandable warehouse space. This saves the customer the need for more sunk costs in real estate and property maintenance and taxes.
6. The warehousing and logistics management team is skilled in the channels of transportation and shipping and is able to interact on behalf of the customer to negotiate the best agreements.
7. The warehouse logistics professional has greater knowledge of the local and regional markets they service. This provides the customer with an invaluable liaison in the local and regional area of the marketplace, effectively expanding the influence and presence of the customer.
8. The warehouse logistics provider has integral members of management on the ground level in the markets and provides connections to the local and regional logistics and warehousing community. These key relationships facilitate viable communications both on behalf of the customer and with the customer.
9. The investment of warehousing space by the warehouse logistics provider offsets some of the inherit risks of the customer. The warehouse logistics provider has the space already invested and frees the customer to remain less exposed when entering new or expanding markets. The fact that the warehouse logistics provider has access to expandable space for the customer assures less growth pains for the customer as the market increases.
10. The warehouse logistics professional brings state-of-the-art hardware and software to the mix of available warehousing and logistics tools. This investment gives the customer the edge technologically without having the capital investment in both the technology and in the staffing to support its implementation and maintenance.
The new marketplace of warehouse logistics is fast-paced and continually evolving. The savvy company is making decisions to keep the supply chain moving freely and in timely fashion. The addition of a warehouse logistics professional will make this daunting task possible while providing a cost-effective alternative to in-house logistics and warehousing .
